Becoming a Member

In order to become a nationally recognized member of Tri-Beta, our chapter requires a process for all new interested members. This process may occasionally be referred to as “rushing,” but we are not a Greek life organization; we are an honor society that strives to disseminate biological knowledge throughout our community. Much like other honors organizations, we want to make sure that our members are dedicated to our mission and will be active in the society, thus we hold a semester long process that entails the following:

  • Attend at least 2 events during event week (1 point each)
  • Attend all general body meetings (2x per month)
  • Acquire 5 additional points throughout the semester (2 service, 1 social, and 1 departmental, and 1 of choice)
  • Complete and submit an application
  • Pay dues ($10)

At the end of the semester, we will hold an induction event where interested students will then become appointed as members. Once reaching senior year, members can upgrade to associate membership or full membership, depending on their fulfillment of the requirements.
